Covid buddy system 

Over on the Waikawa Beach Facebook Page Charlie Strivens, Moderator, has offered to convene a Covid buddy system for Waikawa Beach. A Covid buddy would help someone get the things they need if they are isolating.

In part, the post says:

As the Omincron outbreak has been getting more serious I have been thinking about how our local community can be resilient and how how we can support each other. One of the big issues will be when people either have Covid or have to self isolate. Either way they will not be able to leave the house …

I would like to offer to coordinate a Covid buddy system for Waikawa Beach. A Covid buddy would help someone get the things they need.

Then if anyone does get Covid or needs to self isolate and needs help you can let me know. Hopefully someone from the Covid buddy list will be able to help and I can put people in touch with each other. …

This is one of many ways we can support each other but I would also love to hear about other people ideas as well 😊

If, like me, you really don’t like Facebook, then I can say that the Waikawa Beach FB page is a rarity — full of useful information, community exchanges, thoughtfulness and help. Bad behaviour is rare and swiftly dealt with by the Admin.
